Notably amongst soap companies who cater to the shaving world, Barrister and Mann has been rather picky about producing tobacco fragrances. It's not that we don't like them; Will still tells stories of the wonderful, plummy aroma of a pack of Camel Turkish Blends that he once bought for a Halloween costume. Really, it's because there are just SO MANY interesting things to try that AREN'T tobacco, and we didn't really get to circle back round to it for awhile.
Whew. Glad we got that out of our system. Introducing The Full Measure of Man.
It was inspired by photos of richly appointed libraries, peppered with winged leather armchairs, a glass of fine whiskey, and the smell of aging teak and mahogany wafting from the shelves. Genteel and smooth, the fragrance combines notes of cured tobacco, sandalwood, Mousse de Saxe (whose inky tang suffuses the entire scent like a whispered promise), citrus, vanilla, resins, myrrh, and geranium. This is one of our best "classic" masculine fragrances ever, one to make you feel like enjoying a glass of aged brandy in a bespoke suit before a roaring fire. Simply put, it smells awesome, and so will you. Take advantage of that at your discretion.

Directions for Use

Wet your shaving brush well, then swirl it around the jar for roughly thirty seconds or until a rich, creamy lather is formed. Continue building the lather by adding water and swirling your brush either on your face or in a lathering bowl. Shave, rinse, and spend your day feeling great.

This is a great scent

I feel like this is a scent or fragrance that James Bond 007 himself would wear. It's masculine but not over powering, it's smooth. Well done Barrister and Mann well done.

So good it makes you want to cuss

This reminds me, oddly, of Hallows. It's smooth and relatable but distinct from the run-of-the-mill scent profiles. MdS is one of my more preferred scents and I get it, the tobacco leaf, and the geranium pretty upfront. I'd recommend this easily to anyone.

Over hyped

Really great lather from this as expected from Barrister &Mann sadly bit of a let down scent wise defiantly was over hyped by the first review. This scent is defiantly released at the wrong time of year this would be perfect around Halloween or Christmas not spring. I get well blended sandalwood and vanilla from it which is overly sweet and heavy boozy scent. I barely notice the leather notes or Tobacco. Maybe when it comes to a leather scent I'm more used a clean scent like GFT Spanish leather. I do feel that some scent notes over power this set that could have been amazing. It actually reminds me of a cheap overly sweet brandy. Sad to say first time I've been disappointed by one of B&Ms releases.

Truly Top Drawer

This truly is the best! The scent reminds me of my grandfather's tack room full of leather saddles, with men smoking unfiltered cigarettes and drinking sour mash whiskey in glasses with chipped block ice that was chopped with an ice pick. Yea, it's that good!
