Description

Chypres ("SHEEP-ruhs") are perhaps our favorite family of fragrances here at Barrister and Mann®. They have a long and storied history, going all the way back to megalomaniac and perfume tycoon François Coty, who created the family in 1917 (and promptly sparked a fragrance revolution).

Inspired by smells indigenous to the island nation of Cyprus, Le Grand Chypre ("Leh Grond SHEEP-ruh") combines notes of bergamot, lime, labdanum, oakmoss, and a touch of patchouli to produce an elegant, citrusy heart. We wrapped it in notes of peach, rose, frankincense, cedar, cinnamon, and other supporting smells to create an elegant, slightly fruity, freshly floral design perfectly suited to the refined shaver.

Net Wt. 4 oz, Made in the USA

Wet your shaving brush well, then swirl it around the jar for roughly thirty seconds or until a rich, creamy lather is formed. Continue building the lather by adding water and swirling your brush either on your face or in a lathering bowl. Shave, rinse, and spend your day feeling great.

Great quality and scent

Easily my favorite soap and scent (although of course I've liked all the others I've bought from B&M).

Opulent and Transportive

I love this soap - it is in general rotation all the time for me. The base is (as always) incredibly smooth and soothing. The scent takes me to a high-end resort on a Mediterranean coastline or mountainous lake. This soap, especially in late spring and summer, is (for even just minutes - especially with a Negroni or an espresso) a mini-vacation and a way to elevate any given day. It’s strong as scents go, but in my opinion all the better for it.

Le Grand Chypre - there are no other soaps

I have as of late been trying many of the Barrister and Mann soaps - bought 3 tubs and a handful of samples. Tried the Seville first - felt it lived up to its reputation in performance and the scent. Next went to Lavanille and had the same stellar performance but was blown away by the scent, which I've paired with many different AS. I tried the Cheshire - fantastic scent and I thought 'got to get the AS next time I buy.' Next was LeGrand Chypre - the scent was phenomenal, stunning. I first thought 'I'm not using any other soap ever again. I guess I can give away my collection.' I think if you were to give a master class on soap creation, it would need to center on this soap.

Here is the detail from B&M on the scent:
Inspired by smells indigenous to the island nation of Cyprus, Le Grand Chypre ("Leh Grond SHEEP-ruh") combines notes of bergamot, lime, labdanum, oakmoss, and a touch of patchouli to produce an elegant, citrusy heart. If you're wondering - I don't know B&M and have zero relationship with them other than using the products. I started with a DE in the 70s and came back to it in retirement. I find myself wondering how I shaved all those years with the shite products I was using.
