Barrister's Reserve® Lavender Shaving Soap
- Elegant, smooth lavender unlike anything you've smelled before.
- Absolute hard water tolerance.
- Incredibly creamy, dense lather
- Superlative slickness
- Excellent post-shave feel
Net Wt. 4 oz, Made in the USA
Wet your shaving brush well, then swirl it around the jar for about 25 swirls or until a rich, creamy lather is formed. Continue building the lather by adding water (lots of it) and swirling your brush either on your face or in a lathering bowl. Shave, rinse, and spend your day feeling great.
Note: This soap is very soft and may be easy to overload. If the lather seems thin or glue-like, continue to add water until a dense, creamy lather forms.
Amazing soap base!
The reserve soap base is an absolute joy to use. I have very hard water and have a tough time with building a lather, not with this soap base at all it is by far my favorite soap base and I have a lot of shaving soaps. Thank you B&M for making such an awesome soap base.
Best scent in the reserve base
Very nice lavender, more masculine than expected, which is good. Great paired with the matching aftershave for night shaves as the scent of lavender is known to promote relaxation and quality sleep. Don’t take this to mean it makes you sleepy; it doesn’t. It’s just nice to use before bed.
A lavender scent for the shaver who does not enjoy lavender scents
This review is to encourage you to try the samples and find your favorite. I ended up buying Lavender, the one I expected to enjoy the least "on paper". I am from France, lavender scent there is for girly shower gels, your great grandparents perfume store or a closet where you put unused linen. Out of all the Reserve soap (reserve is by far the best soap base I used to shave so far), Lavender ended up being my favorite. It does not smell like lavender, it smells like lavender mochi or lavender bubble tea. It is relaxing and luxurious at the same time. I ended up buying the aftershave and hair product as well. Unless the classic scents come in reserve, I found the main soap in my rotation.
Love this soap!
Without a doubt, one of the finest shave soaps I've used. I've been wet shaving for a little more than 64 years and can easily state that the Barrister and Mann Lavender provides a great shave. Back in the day I was taught to wet shave by my grandfather and our neighborhood barber - who both insisted that a daily shave should never be more than one pass - leaving the multiple pass shave the occasional barber's shave. This soap does the job admirably. It's scent is good - not great lavender (my gold standard is/was Yardley's English Lavender shave soap - that I used for close to 40 years until it went out of production). One cautionary note: this is an extremely "thirsty" soap. I start with a damp brush to load the soap and slowly add water as I work up a lather on my face dipping the brush tips in hot water as I lather until I reach the consistency that works. Be patient, use water to get a great, slick, protective lather and a marvelous shave!
