Children’s authors, people like Dr. Seuss, Shel Silverstein, and Beatrix Potter, set the tone for our entire lives. The books that we read as children become cornerstones of how we see the world, of our beliefs about right and wrong, and of how we treat others. Few could forget the lessons and lines of iconic works like The Lorax, and we pass such lessons on to our own children in an effort to give them the best for their own childhoods.

This year, for what would have been Dr. Seuss’s 104th birthday, Barrister and Mann is thrilled to present our tribute to these great authors, to the Eric Carles and Richard Scarrys and Maurice Sendaks of the world. Inspired by their stories and their lessons, Behold the Whatsis! is a sprightly, Spring-like blend of grapefruit, rose, and our own version of the smell of childhood memories, a combination of tangerines, sugar cookies, and dryer-warm blankets. Far from cloyingly sweet, Behold the Whatsis! elegantly and quietly hails back to what it’s like to be very small.

In further celebration of children’s literature, we will also be donating $1 per jar of soap and $2 per bottle of aftershave sold to the Children’s Literacy Initiative, a renowned non-profit that works with teachers to advance and improve early literacy in the United States.

Special thanks to Jennifer Davis and Wendy Guenther, who created their very own tributes to Dr. Seuss’s unique artistic style, and to the good doctor himself. There was no one on Earth who was youer than you.

Net Wt. 4 oz, Made in the USA

Wet your shaving brush well, then swirl it around the jar for roughly thirty seconds or until a rich, creamy lather is formed. Continue building the lather by adding water (lots and lots of it) and swirling your brush either on your face or in a lathering bowl. Shave, rinse, and spend your day feeling great.

Very creamy, protective lather, and a great scent.

As with nearly every one of the B&M soaps, this one smells great. The Excelsior base is awesome, and this soap provides a clean, protective, and great smelling lather and shave.

Behold the Whatsis! Shaving Soap

Funny name and theme but, as with all B&M products it is excellence at it's finest.

Pleasent Surprise

Bought it for the novelty and the fantastic performance, but ended up falling in love with the scent.

A scent of spring

The scent of this soap is difficult to describe. You definitely get the notes of citrus and rose, however there are some lingering "sweet scents" that come out when lathered; I'd almost describe it as a bubble gum or taffy. One scent takes you back to a simpler time. The scent is complemented by the tremendous Excelsior base, meaning lather is easy and rich. If you're on the fence, pick it up!

Behold the Whatsis!

Exceptional experience as always. The scent bring me back to times of old, when I was a young man and when life was much simpler.
