Leviathan Shaving Soap

Leviathan. The Biblical Serpent who will consume the world come the End of Days. Legend has it that he lives beneath the seas, awaiting his chance to devour all of Creation. Some sailors still speak his name in hushed tones and cross themselves to ward off his ancient, ravenous hunger.

In perfume, there is nothing more darkly ancient than leather. We discovered the formula for an archaic, forgotten Russian leather accord and blended it with notes of sandalwood, coffee, cedar, and musk to create a dark, feral scent well-suited to its namesake. Elemental and at times slightly unsettling, Leviathan is a scent to accompany you to the end of the world.

The Soap

Wet your shaving brush well, then swirl it around the jar for roughly thirty seconds or until a rich, creamy lather is formed. Continue building the lather by adding water and swirling your brush either on your face or in a lathering bowl. Shave, rinse, and spend your day feeling great.

Smells good: great lather

What a journey!

At first whiff off the tub it might seem a little much, but lather it up and give it time and it will grow on you. Initial impression cracking it open was that it smelled like a leather jacket that belonged to a smoker that may have spilled some coffee on themselves while juggling their cigarette. Don’t be intimidated by this. Once lathered up it mellows and softens, doing away with the smoke and bringing the coffee and leather up front more. A perfect scent that evokes a comfy and cozy feeling for the colder fall and winter months or just any old rainy day. Enjoyed it enough that I bought the whole set of soap, splash and EDT.

Dark Comfort

This is a rich scent. It’s meant to be used in cold, gray moments where an understated (in a good way) coffee scent can enliven you and give you comfort. Like a darkly lit bookshop, coffee store, or den. It’s a deep scent in all senses and, while it may an acquired scent for some, is truly worth the experience.

Side note: coffee notes feel true and not artificial like most coffee scents.

Leviathan shave soap

I’ve always been a big fan of using Stirling shave soaps. They are great products.
Hadn’t heard of Barrister and Mann but I figured I’d give this a shot because I love coffee scents. Not only is the scent great but the lather is much better than my Stirling products. Also, the feeling hours after on my face feels like I used moisturizing lotion. The post shave is awesome. This is a top tier product. Will be getting more scents
