Smoking Bishop Shaving Soap
A Christmas Carol creates a particular image: cobbled London streets, swollen with carts and men in top hats and street urchins, all milling and shouting and running in the cold December air. You can practically feel the chill, see the clouds of steam as the crowds breathe, and hear the din of a thousand lives all playing out in the same space. It's a vivid, intensely nostalgic picture, one almost irrevocably associated with its author.
The story makes particular reference to a Victorian mulled wine known as "Smoking Bishop," so named because it's served heated to steaming, but not boiling, and drunk from warmed bowls or glasses (before you ask, we have no idea where the bishop part comes in). It's one of our favorite holiday punches here at Barrister and Mann, and we thought it was high time that it got the full shaving soap treatment!
The soap version is a smooth, warm blend of wine, orange, grapefruit, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pipe tobacco that conjures images of sipping a stiff drink near a roaring hearth, the air redolent with the scents and sounds of food and drink and good company. Effortlessly charming and good-natured, Smoking Bishop is one of our best "feel-good" scents ever, and we can't wait for you to give it a try!

This one grows on you.
The base for the Barrister and Mann soaps is top of the line. If you’re reading this you don’t need me to tell you how good it is. You’re guaranteed a great shave with any of their soaps. It really just comes down to what scent you like the best. Smoking Bishop is very pleasant. The first time I used it, I thought, ok… I like this. Each time I used it I found the scent more and more pleasing. Light and fruity but with nutmeg and tobacco to keep it grounded and earthy, Smoking Bishop absolutely should be in your collection of shave soaps.
Great Winter Scent
I have used Barrister and Mann shaving soaps for a while, and the performance is excellent. I was looking for a new "wintery" fragrance, and Smoking Bishop is great!
As Jim Carrey might say… Smokin!
A little fruity yet balanced by the spices; not gourmand and not over the top “holiday.” A great everyday scent.
Might be one of my favorite B&M scents to date. I love complex scents that force you to pay attention and this is it! First you think a little sweet but that's just a trick them the subtle spicy notes peek out and the wow sets in. I bought a second set I liked the scent so much. Can't go wrong soap and aftershave for the Holiday season! B&M killed it!
This is a wonderful scent and reminds me of xmas punch. I smell fruit and spices and everything that reminds me of Christmas. Oh and the performance as with all b&m soap, awesome. Another winner!
