The Full Measure of Man Eau de Toilette, 50 ml
Please note: Effective immediately, we will not be able to ship full bottles of our EdTs or EdPs into the Southern states until the temperature drops below 90ºF. There is simply no way to prevent the bottles from cracking due to the heat. Any orders destined to go south of the Mason-Dixon line will have any and all EdT and EdP bottles (but not samples) removed and refunded until the temperature returns to a more manageable level. We apologize for any inconvenience.Notably amongst soap companies who cater to the shaving world, Barrister and Mann has been rather picky about producing tobacco fragrances. It's not that we don't like them; Will still tells stories of the wonderful, plummy aroma of a pack of Camel Turkish Blends that he once bought for a Halloween costume. Really, it's because there are just SO MANY interesting things to try that AREN'T tobacco, and we didn't really get to circle back round to it for awhile.
Whew. Glad we got that out of our system. Introducing The Full Measure of Man.
It was inspired by photos of richly appointed libraries, peppered with winged leather armchairs, a glass of fine whiskey, and the smell of aging teak and mahogany wafting from the shelves. Genteel and smooth, the fragrance combines notes of cured tobacco, sandalwood, Mousse de Saxe (whose inky tang suffuses the entire scent like a whispered promise), citrus, vanilla, resins, myrrh, and geranium. This is one of our best "classic" masculine fragrances ever, one to make you feel like enjoying a glass of aged brandy in a bespoke suit before a roaring fire. Simply put, it smells awesome, and so will you. Take advantage of that at your discretion.
50 ml. Made in the USA.

I was very pleased with this particular scent. It was different than my other Barrister an Mann products. Go for it. You won’t be disappointed.
OK. I now have all three FMoM. And they are unsurprisingly different from one another. Biggest "problem" with the Eau de Toilette it carries less of the interesting notes. Honestly, it smells like maple syrup. The cedar and woodsy notes of the aftershave splash are absent. And are missed. I still love the scent though. But I'd rather smell like a leather and wood library than a pancake. I like the scent of the shave soap as well. Smells closer to the aftershave than the EdT.
The Full Measure of Man has been my go-to shave soap for several years now and is one of my absolute favorite scents. This EdT does an excellent job of capturing everything I love about the soap. The sweetness is perfectly balanced without being cloying and some of the more subtle notes like resin and vanilla really shine through. If you are a fan of the shave soap you'll love this EdT. Great work once again!
I decided to use this a few times before writing my review. I will admit, that the first few sniffs when applied can be just a bit offputting. Its an oddly strong citrusy scent right off the bat. But after its had time to dry on your skin for about 5 minutes it starts to smell incredibly nice. I can't really speak to the notes per se beyond the citrusy part up front. It definitely reminds me a little of some nice whiskeys. And a woodsy scent, though maybe less library and a little more evening woods. I would say the EdT gave me a vague sense of woods and farmed fields in the evening. Which works quite well. One minor critique I do have is that unlike the EdTs in the smaller 30 ml bottles like Angelique and Marilyn, this one didn't have the scent notes at the back of the package. Would be nice to look those up if the product isn't available later on the website!
