Arguably one of the most famous blends of tea in the world, Earl Grey is believed to be named after Charles, the Second Earl Grey, and was first produced by Charlton & Co. of Jermyn St. in London around 1880. The tea is traditionally flavored with bergamot, a peppery relative of orange from Italy. Its distinctive scent had never been re-created in shaving soap until Barrister and Mann® decided to give it a go.

We blend American clary sage, bergamot, and small amounts of lavender and patchouli to create a very realistic interpretation of the smell of Earl Grey (the tea, not the man). It's our founder's favorite, and we think you'll love it too!

Net wt. 4 oz, Made in the USA

Wet your shaving brush well, then swirl it around the jar for roughly thirty seconds or until a rich, creamy lather is formed. Continue building the lather by adding water and swirling your brush either on your face or in a lathering bowl. Shave, rinse, and spend your day feeling great.

So fresh.

I have definitely joined the B&M cult. Soaps, shaving soaps, balms, splashes, fragrance... I'm all in. This is my newest acquisition along with the balm in a combo. The functionality of the soap is fantastic, as is the scent. Fresh, bergamot heavy earl grey. Makes shaving a pleasure. Like another reviewer, I wish there was an EdP to go with it!

Performance - great, Scent - alright.

As usual with B&M's soaps, the performance is outstanding while the scent is a gamble. I was over the moon to discover a top-tier soap maker made an Earl Grey-scented soap, but regrettably I was disappointed with the scent itself. The Earl Grey top notes are definitely there upon lathering; the feeling is crisp, fresh, soapy, springy. However, the base notes are very heavy on the patchouli - too heavy. The residual scent is almost exclusively that. I really don't think the patchouli adds to the overall experience and I really wish B&M would consider replacing that particular ingredient from the formulation, but on the other hand, so many other users seem happy with it, so I guess it just comes down to my expectations and my pickiness. As stated, overall it is a fantastic soap, I just don't care for patchouli. If you do, try this out.

An Old Friend

Cheshire has been one of my favorites for many years. The scent is somehow classic in that one never tires of returning to it. Clearly not a flash in the pan.

One of my absolute favorites!

Performance is spectacular. Scent is incredible-very earthy and complex. My only complaint is there is no EdP or EdT to go with it!

Quality product; great cushion and glide

After sampling several B&M shave soaps, I settled on Cheshire. It was the scent my wife liked the most. The pricier delivers on lather, cushion, glide, rinse and fragrance. Using a shave brush, this soap loads very well, and lathers quickly in bowl or on face.
