Been sniffing my wrists since I got home from work.
I got this as part of the 3 piece bundle offered in September. I already shaved today so I just smelled the contents of the box (top notch presentation, by the way). I put about a quarter pump of this on my wrist so I could know what to expect. I'm not great at describing scents, but if the soap smells like this, it'll be my daily go to until I run out. I've already asked to be put on the notification list for restock even though I have a full bottle. I suppose I would describe it as earthy, somewhat sweet (but not overwhelming) and masculine. Underneath it all is something that reminds me of the sandalwood incense the t-shirt shop used to burn when I was a kid. Top notch, will be buying on restock to ensure I have it until the next release.
Loving this EdT
To me the scent of this fragrance is spicy, hot cocoa and brownies, and resinous anointing oils. The labdanum realy brings it together for me and lends a warm character. Smells like High Mass in the Crypt Church not the Cathedral. I will be definitely wearing this one for special occasions, gatherings, and holidays all the way from Halloween to Christmas and through to Easter. I bought both the Hallows EdT and Fougere Gothique EdP. And, have been doing a comparison, still need second opinions. I love them both, and both have similar, complimentary accords, almost flankers. But, to me the Hallows seems to last longer and richer. With me preferring the warm consoling nature of this Hallows. Hallows dries down to a warm resinous residue, whereas the Fougere Gothique fades out musky and tenuous.
Masterful Fragrance
I've had the Hallows shaving soap for a few years and enjoy pulling it into my rotation for 4-5 weeks when the days start getting short and rain clouds stay still in the gray skies, so I had to try the EdT when it was announced. I was happy to find out that this fragrance exceeds what the already decadent soap does. It starts off as a blast of powdered cocoa, the really fine stuff that gets in your nostrils and makes you crinkle your nose when you're making a cup of hot chocolate. Then it's wet dirt and slick damp leaves that stick to your leather boots on a walk through the woods. A humid chill hangs in the air but there's also an aura of warmth radiating off of the decaying foliage-covered wood; lichen speckled browns plastered with orange and red. It glows like a worn sweater that's been in the closet since the season before, concealing memories that linger not quite enough before they vanish like the dim dusk light into the night. There's nothing quite like this, and the only other fragrances I've experienced in the same vein are a few from Oriza L. Legrand, concepts more than fragrances really. This is much more than the sum of it's parts and does a phenomenal job at placing you exactly where it wants you to be.
B&M Hallows EdT
I had heard varied reviews and perceptions about Hallows and decided the only way to k ow for sure was to hunt down a set and decide for myself. While I don’t find the scent of the soap and splash overly dark, there are certainly dark notes to them. I still managed to fall in love with its rich aroma, and my wife’s approval certainly helped. So when B&M decided to release a matching EdT I got really excited. When the package arrived, I was first blown away, as always, by their phenomenal packaging. But the warmer, friendlier scent of the EdT really set it apart while perfectly rounding out the soap and splash. That being said, it’s stands by itself just as well making me reach for it more often than I thought I would.
awsome scent
I really like this EdT, the chocolate and ceder are really forward for me.
