Away to the Dismal Swamp he speeds,
His path was rugged and sore,
Through tangled juniper, beds of reeds,
Through many a fen where the serpent feeds,
And man never trod before.

-Sir Thomas Moore, "The Lake of the Dismal Swamp"

A popular haunt for corpse harvesters in the nineteenth century, who emptied its graves to fuel the lectures and research of local medical schools, Boston's Copp's Hill Burying Ground has long been thought haunted by ghouls and vengeful spirits. The murderer John White Webster is said to rest here in an unmarked tomb, and the Lovecraftian tale "Pickman's Model" speculates that the place is a hive of undeath and rot, a gathering ground for restless souls and unrealized doom. There is a rumor that small children around Copp's Hill are still not allowed outside past dark.

Boston is a city of history, home to strange and often gruesome happenings. It was our first home and gave rise to many of our most famous creations. Fragrances of dark animus and warped design.

Fragrances like Hallows.

Taking inspiration from the swamps and churchyards of the city, we combine vetiver, oakmoss, black pepper, cocoa, labdanum, and cedar to produce a deep, cold scent suited to the chilly, bitter days of late October. Gloomy, rich, and perversely elegant, Hallows is a reminder of why men once feared the dark.

Net Wt. 4 oz, Made in the USA.

Needed this to come back

I love Hallows but was running low since the last release. Glad to be able to pick up more of this scent. The latest release, in the wonderful Omnibus base, is a great scent for fall. I hope this keeps returning yearly in the fall.

Not a fave

The lather is the typical B+M quality, which is why I gave it a 3. What I couldn't get past, is the scent. The scent is strong and consistent, but for me it is very unpleasant and very perfumy. It smells to me like a sweet, straight flavored snuff, which makes my stomach turn due to a time when I was young and the snuff made me sick. It also has a scent plateau that smells like the '50's Avon perfume my grandma would wear. If you like tobacco and old perfume, you'll love this stuff. I won't be purchasing this one again.

Another Excellent Release!

I love B&M for their role as protector/preserver of heritage scents that might otherwise be lost, but I also respect their intrepid spirit in creating new ones. Some find some of their newer creations polarizing; however one can’t deny the thought that goes into their products. Hallows is one such newer scent and is well worth serious consideration. Out of the tub the scent is potentially offputting; however, given heat and moisture, the depth and complexity of this scent is apparent and really draws one in. I was attracted by the description of the notes, questioned my judgment briefly, and the unabashedly rejoiced in this morning’s shave. Not only is this a perfect Halloween shave or general cold autumn shave, but it is tour de force for those who enjoy those darker notes. To boot, year in, year out, the Omnibus base delivers in spades and is simply hard to beat in any respect. Thank you, Will and Team.

Great

First soap I reach for when the weather starts to turn. Dark deep and a little creepy. Don’t judge it off the smell of the puck which is great but gets even more haunting when lathered up. You already know how the post shave feels so we won’t get into that.

A spicy spooky shave

I like this one. Spicy, earthy, rich. I just worked through the last of my Melange and this fills the role nicely.
