Le Grand Chypre Aftershave Splash

Le Grand Chypre is bright off of the tub with a citrus and floral blend that is lightly sweet and extremely pleasant to my nose. There are so many different notes that swirl together from whiffs off the tub, but when lathering begins, these begin to break down into an herbal melange. The remaining scent is a subtle blend of spice, resinous powder, and citrus. This end note is accentuated and extended by use of the aftershave, with plenty of longevity to last. What I find most interesting is that Le Grande Chypre is spicy, but in a “summery” way. Spice is usually accompanied by heavy, dark notes fitting for colder months, but in this case B&M have managed to combine bright citrus and subtle spice notes with an herbal patchouli in an entirely balanced way. It’s a truly fascinating take on the Chypre-genre, and it is my favorite Chypres scent. It is an all-season soap, but definitely a spring and summer favorite for me.

Great Spring/Summer scent, very refreshing. All of the B&M scents are Quality and last a good amount of time. I buy on the scent descriptions and so far have not been disappointed with any of them.

Le Grand Chypre
I was first introduced to the scent Chypre by my mother-in-law who bought me an aftershave she remembered her father using when she was growing up in Russia. It was really my kind of scent, but I couldn't find anything like it in the U.S. Then I found B&M's Le Grand Chypre and it is amazing. I bought both the eau de toilette and aftershave splash and love them both. I hope this will always be around!

Though I do wish that some more of the fruit notes stood out a bit more as it does in the soap. The fragrance last quite a while too. It makes me want to try the cologne.

I really didn’t like this scent. It honestly smelled like urine when it dried down. I took a chance blindly on this and a few different scents. However, Will helped steer me towards Waves based on some other scents I’ve enjoyed in the past and I like it a lot. I also have Spice and Leviathan, both great.

Le Grande Chypre, Muir Wood, Leviathan, aftershave splashes all work very well for me. They feel good going on, and feel good hours later. They don't sticky or oily as the day progresses.

Only rediscovered wet shaving a few months ago. Have tried several soaps and splashes. Barrister and Mann are all I use now. Love this scent. Great balance between mild and strong scent. Lasts thru-out the day. Excellent product. Nice size bottle. Definitely a must for those with the LGC soap. Plan on purchasing more soap/splash scent combos. Highly recommend this company.

I wanted something spicy, fruity and floral to soothe after a full head shave, fits the bill. Doesn't deviate a ton from Ralph Lauren Purple which I wear occasionally.

The Le Grand Chypre fragrance really missed the mark for me. I am not the kind of person to just write negative reviews for the fun of it but I had to try and scrub off this aftershave almost immediately after I applied it. I guess it came off as floral but not in any way I could put a positive spin on it. I've tried quite a few of the different regular and seasonal fragrances over the years but this is the first time I've given up on one after a single use. I honestly couldn't pick out any particular notes listed in the description of the fragrance and was just put off by what seemed to me to be an overly concentrated floral/herbal melange. The soap and aftershave gave a fantastic shave performance as they always do but the fragrance really sunk the experience for me and it stings being out 50 bucks trying a fragrance the new quiz actually recommended to me.

Great soap, great scent, great experience. I was blown away by how fast the order processed and shipped, way faster than any other artisan experience as well as the online shave sites.
I’ll be ordering directly from BM going forward, as I’m almost out of my other favorite, the best Barbershop scent hands down… Seville.

Barrister and Mann LLC makes the best grooming products for men on this side of heaven. I am a believer!

A complex and unique scent with a nice floral note to round it out.

Great aftershave. The burn is not overly aggressive as other alcohol splashes, but it still leaves a refreshing tingle afterwards. The scent lingers for a length of time and is not overwhelming.

The scent is… not what I expected, but it certainly grew on me after just 1 day. I also feel that it didn’t dry out my skin.

Le Grand Chypre - one of the most unique aftershaves/splashes I have ever used. Very, very mysterious. I will order more.

The scent is great, lasts at least half the day and keeps my face feeling great. I haven’t had to use anything else after shaving even when experiencing minor nicks.

Having long used Chanel Pour Monsieur aftershave lotion, I was extremely disappointed when they discontinued it some time ago and began looking for substitutes. Le Grand Chypre certainly isn’t it—perhaps expecting it to hold a candle to what might be the greatest men’s scent of all-time is unfair, but even if you’re just looking for a chypre that’s “good enough” and priced accordingly, this isn’t it. This smells like flowery candy and has none of the refinement of a proper men’s scent. Totally unusable—stay far away.
